Butterfly Garden Lot in Cabuya

US $ 80,000

Description

Having enjoyed the short ferry crossing from Puntarenas to Paquera, upon reaching the unspoilt beach town of Montezuma on the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula, as you take the short drive south towards Cabuya, you will experience one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the whole of Costa Rica.

Upon arriving in Cabuya, this sleepy, untouched seaside village transports you back to a simpler time and lifestyle of thirty or forty years ago before Costa Rica became a world-famous tourist destination. Beyond Cabuya, heading toward the tip of the Nicoya peninsula is the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve which was the first National Park to be established in Costa Rica measuring over 3,000 hectares ( 8,000 acres ) of jungle covered mountains.

In terms of Cabuya’s small expat community, they share an awareness and understanding of the beauty of the area and the need to preserve it, especially as neighboring beach towns such as Malpais and Santa Teresa undergo booming tourism development.

The butterfly garden lot is 797 m2 (8,575 sq.ft.), and is located 400 meters from the main road in Cabuya and only a short walk to the closest beach. The lot borders a public road with municipal water and electricity available. The lot itself borders an 8 hectare ( 20 acres ) Wildlife Sanctuary of lush primary and secondary jungle, with a beautiful cascading series of waterfalls along the river at the top. The Sanctuary was founded some 30 years ago and is still nurtured and protected by the founder. So if you purchase and build your home here, you will have the wonderful opportunity to see and hear all the flora and fauna on your doorstep. Not only that but you will also be able to involve yourself with the magnificent conservation work which is being done by your neighbors, including reforestation projects, the protection of wildlife and wilderness in the area, and the re-introduction of endangered Costa Rican wildlife species into the protected forests of the Sanctuary.

The lot is already landscaped in numerous flowering plants that attract and host butterflies.

The seller also offers free advice on further landscaping, and will provide fruit trees and ornamentals FREE to enhance the gardens. The only requests the Seller makes is that the buyer avoids bringing domestic cats onto their property because, as natural hunters, they habitually destroy wildlife. For the same reason, dogs must be kept fenced in, to prevent harm to the plentiful wildlife in the area.

Also, the power lines leading to their new home must be either insulated or buried underground to ensure that the local monkeys ( there are large troops of both howler monkeys and capuchins ) and other arboreal wildlife ( kinkajous, anteaters, pizotes, raccoons, squirrels, etc. ) and birds do not get electrocuted as they move around the area. By the way, if you are adverse to noisy scarlet macaws then please do not consider this lot!
