Having enjoyed the short ferry crossing from Puntarenas to Paquera, upon reaching the unspoilt beach town of Montezuma on the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula, as you take the short drive south towards Cabuya, you will experience one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the whole of Costa Rica.
Upon arriving in Cabuya, this sleepy, untouched seaside village transports you back to a simpler time and lifestyle of thirty or forty years ago before Costa Rica became a world-famous tourist destination. Beyond Cabuya, heading toward the tip of the Nicoya peninsula is the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve which was the first National Park to be established in Costa Rica measuring over 3,000 hectares ( 8,000 acres ) of jungle covered mountains.

For the same reason, dogs must be kept fenced in, to prevent harm to the plentiful wildlife in the area.
Also, the power lines leading to their new home must be either insulated or buried underground to ensure that the local monkeys ( there are large troops of both howler monkeys and capuchins ) and other arboreal wildlife ( kinkajous, anteaters, pizotes, raccoons, squirrels, etc. ) and birds do not get electrocuted as they move around the area. By the way, if you are adverse to noisy scarlet macaws then please do not consider this lot!
